History

Lund Brass Band was started in 2012 at the music unit Odeum at Lund University on the initiative of Rikard Lindahl (at that time the band then went under the name Lund University Brass Band). With the help of director musices, Patrik Andersson, the band got off to a quick start, and Roger Andersson was appointed as the band's first conductor.

In 2013, the band participated for the first time at the Swedish brass band championships in Värnamo, and was placed 2nd in division 1, something which at that time felt incredibly unexpected and fun for the newly started band. Since then, competitions have been a big part of the annual business.

When the band was started, a large part of the members were students at Lund University. But after 8 years, it looked very different, much because many of the members who had been members since the beginning, were still there. For this reason, among other things, it was decided in 2020 that the band would no longer be a university-based orchestra. In the autumn of 2020, the band got a new rehearsal room in Folkparken in western Lund, and now stood on its own feet; more work to run the business further, but with greater freedom.

We hope to continue to gild and broaden Sweden with brass band music for many years to come!
